Getting to the Wakoshi Tobu Hotel and the RIKEN Wako Campus
Every route below ends at Wako-shi Station: the hotel is inside the station building, and the campus is a short walk away. Public-transport costs are one-way per person, taxi costs per vehicle; USD figures are approximate.
| From | Option | Time | Cost | Transfers |

| Haneda (HND) | Train via Shinagawa & Ikebukuro | ~75–90 min | ~¥950 (~$6) | 2 |
| Haneda (HND) | Airport Limousine Bus (direct) | ~55–95 min | ¥1,700 (~$11) | 0 |
| Haneda (HND) | Taxi (metered) | ~45–70 min | ~¥15,000–20,000 incl. tolls (~$95–125, per vehicle) | 0 |
| Narita (NRT) | Skyliner + train via Nippori & Ikebukuro | ~1 h 45 m–2 h | ~¥3,000 (~$19) | 2 |
| Narita (NRT) | Airport Bus (direct, few departures) | ~2 h | ¥3,300 (~$21) | 0 |

Haneda is the recommended airport — it sits inside Tokyo, and Wako is at the northern edge of the metropolitan area.
Tokyo Metro Yurakucho / Fukutoshin Lines from Ikebukuro also reach Wako-shi. Trains are unaffected by road traffic.
A direct Airport Limousine bus runs from Haneda to Wako-shi Station South Exit — the stop is about a one-minute walk from the hotel entrance.
Board at Terminal 1 stop 6, Terminal 2 stop 7, Terminal 3 stop 2. Buy tickets at the arrival-lobby counter or ticket machines (IC cards accepted). Departures are limited and journey times vary by departure — check the timetable, and reserve ahead for the return trip.
Taxis from Haneda to Wako are ordinary metered rides — the airport flat-fare programs do not cover Wako City. Take one from the taxi rank or request one through the GO app.
Fares vary with traffic and time of day (+~20% between 22:00 and 5:00); if you plan on a taxi, it is best to confirm a quote beforehand. Convenient after a late arrival or with heavy luggage.
Narita is roughly 80 km east of Wako, so every option takes appreciably longer. If your itinerary allows, fly into Haneda instead.
Skyliner seats are reserved; buy at the arrival counter or online.
A direct airport bus (Seibu / Keisei, Tokorozawa–Narita line) runs from Narita to Wako-shi Station South Exit, next to the hotel.
Currently only two departures per day — check the timetable before relying on it. Board at Terminal 1 stop 8, Terminal 2 stop 10, Terminal 3 stop 11.
The ride crosses the whole Tokyo metropolitan area. Use it only if you have no alternative.
The hotel is directly connected to Wako-shi Station — you can walk from the ticket gates to the front desk in about a minute, indoors. The airport bus stop (South Exit) is right outside.

A rechargeable Suica or PASMO card (or Suica in your phone's wallet app, or a Welcome Suica from the airport) works on every train, subway, and bus above — no need to buy individual tickets except for the Skyliner and airport buses.
Google Maps handles Japanese transit connections well — search for “Wako-shi Station” or “RIKEN Wako Campus”. For taxis, the GO app is the standard ride-hailing app in Japan.
Road traffic in and out of Tokyo is heavy on weekday evenings, especially Fridays. For a Friday departure by bus or taxi, leave with generous margin — or take the train, which is immune to congestion.
Public-transport fares are one-way adult fares, checked on August 24, 2026 (small IC-card discounts apply on some trains); taxi figures are rough per-vehicle estimates. USD conversions use ¥159 = $1 and are rounded. Please verify timetables and fares before travel.
